How To : Change Empathy Chat/Message Theme
Empathy has a unique ability, it’s able to use Adium message themes. Yes, so you can change Empathy message themes with Mac OS X style, note : Adium is a multi protocols messenger client on Mac OS X. Empathy doesn’t provide any such themes for the users, there is no plugins available too.
Ok, to use Adium’s message themes on Empathy, you need to download the themes from
Go to your home directory, for example /home/gojeg/. Then press Ctrl+H, it will show the hidden directories. Go to .local directory, and then get in to share directory.
Make directory named adium, and message-styles in adium directory.
The complete directories structure should be like this :
/home/gojeg/.local/adium/message-styles/
Now, extract you downloaded message theme, and cut the *.AdiumMessageStyle directory to /home/gojeg/.local/adium/message-styles/.
To change the message theme, run Empathy, go to Edit->Preferences->Themes[Tab]. The new Adium theme should be on drop-down menu.
