How to Create a Hotspot on Windows

Maybe we’re used to using a laptop we just used to catch the wifi signal to be broadcast by the hotspot. Though we can we enable the laptop as a alternative hotspot with a low cost, because we do not need to add other supporting tools. For Windows Vista and 7 already in the media to provide ad-hoc wifi directly from your laptop.

So, how to create a hotspot in Windows.

First, go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > select Set up a new connection or network.

Select set up an ad hoc network (computer-to-computer) network, then click Next button. It will show a dialog to proceed to the next step.

Make sure Wifi is on, then fill in the Network name with the name of  your connection, security Type can select one, while the Security key is the password  for your Hotspot.

Select Save this network, so the settings can be saved and not have to repeat the previous step at a later time. And save it. Hotspot will be automatically set according to default Windows settings.

After going through the step by step in setting adhoc windows vista and seven as above, now you have your own hotspot from your laptop.

Using Connectify Application

In addition to the above there are ways, there are other alternatives to make the hotspot of your laptop more easily, namely by using application Connectify. Although paid apps also include a free version which you can use.

First, download the application from Connectify website then install.

To create a hotspot with this application, you can just click the application’s icon from the taskbar. Fill in the name of the WiFi network, access password, and then specify the type of connection you wish to share (LAN,VirtualBoxHost Only, Wireless Network, and without internet sharing). Then click start hotspot.
